Heading to Monte Amiata

If you prefer to explore our beautiful mountain, in about 30 minutes by car you can reach the top of Monte Amiata and enjoy a relaxing walk in the beechwood or you can go visiting the Faunal Park of Monte Amiata.

There are many villages surrounding the Monte Amiata which are worth visiting: Castel del Piano, the town of the Palio (horse race, traditionally run on 8th September), Seggiano (known in particular for the Daniel Spoerri garden), Santa Fiora with its beautiful fishpond and a wonderful collection of Della Robbia ceramics. From the Monte Amiata, driving for another 30 minutes, you can reach Bagni San Filippo and enjoy a relaxing bath in the free thermal pools or continues up to Radicofani to discover the adventures of the brigand Ghino di Tacco.

If spas are your passion, you can visit Bagno Vignoni (about 40 minutes from the Podere) or Saturnia and its beautiful waterfalls of the Mill, reachable in about 1 hour by car. Once you've reached Saturnia, don't miss a visit to the tufa towns, in particular the beautiful Pitigliano, known as the little Jerusalem, Sorano, Sovana (to discover the ancient Etruscans).

The Maremma and the sea

From our farmhouse, driving for about 1 hour, you can reach the seaside: Castiglione della Pescaia, Punta Ala, the pearls of Cala Violina (so called because the sands emit a slight sound reminiscent of a violin) and Cala Martina (where Garibaldi also stopped), Follonica or Marina di Grosseto and Principina. But first do not forget to visit Grosseto with its beautiful Piazza Dante and perfectly preserved wall.

The Parco della Maremma ( https://parco-maremma.it/) is also easily and quickly accessible and we invite you to visit it to enjoy the genuine, and somewhat wild, atmosphere it still retains and then there you can meet the Maremma cowboys.

Besides visiting the beautiful villages in the nearby, there are many activities you can do in our area and many events taking place in every seasons of the year starting in May with the Sagra della Lasagna (Lasagna Festival) in Montenero d’Orcia (where in July is also held the Craft Beer Festival – Birragustando), and continuing in Summer and Autumn with the Wine Festival (Cinigiano) Olive Oli Festival (Montegiovi), the Chestnuts Festival (Monticello Amiata, Arcidosso) and many others.

We will of course be happy to give you all the information you need to make the most of your stay.
