Podere Stabbiatelli

Our farm belongs to our family for almost 100 years.

In the land surrounding our farm we grow mainly wheat and fodder that we then use as feed for our sheep, especially during the winter; in the summer the sheep are left free to graze in the fields under the watchful eye of our Maremma shepherds, true guardians of the flock.

The milk produced by our sheep is delivered to a local dairy and contributes to the production of pecorino romano dop, for which we have recently obtained certification in addition to that obtained a few years ago for the production of pecorino toscano dop. We also have about a thousand olive trees that give us a very tasty olive oil and that keep us busy for most of the year; we also have a couple of small vineyards that we use to produce red and white wine according to our father's teachings but with the addition of a pinch of modernity.

Here are our pets

Zeus, Gea, Ashanti e Attila are our guardians of the flock, they spend their days with the sheep and look after their safety... and in the evenings they allow themselves a little rest after a hard day's work.

Didi is our house dog: when you arrive at the Podere she will probably be the first to greet you. She has been living with us for 7 years and accompanies me in all the farm work.

We have almost 150 sheeps... it is difficult to present them all to you, although some of them will claim your attention, such as Gilda and Gertrude

Sciumi, Sashimi and their friends complete the group, living together with the dogs is not always easy but they somehow manage to get along.

There are then our hens, hosted in the farm of our grandmother which cuddles and guards them with love and… discipline 😊

Last but not least, a special place in our farm is for our bees which pollinate the orchard giving us a delicious honey and, usually, a large production of fruit.
